Finished Dimensions Based on the Curtain Application
Drapestra produces custom-size curtains for importers, wholesalers, private label brands, hospitality suppliers and project buyers. Dimensions are developed according to the curtain type, installation method, intended coverage and required finished appearance.
Window dimensions and finished curtain dimensions are not always the same. A quotation should specify whether the measurements refer to the window opening, track, curtain rod or finished panel. We also need to confirm whether the stated width applies to one panel, a pair or the total curtain set.
Residential, hotel, hospital, door and bed curtains may require different measurement methods. Project-specific details should therefore be reviewed before material consumption, MOQ and pricing are calculated.
Measurements Required for a Quotation
For each curtain size, buyers should provide the finished width, finished drop, panel quantity and required order quantity. The heading style, lining construction and installation method should also be included because they can affect the finished dimensions and material usage.
A useful size specification normally includes:
- Finished width per panel
- Finished drop from top to bottom
- Number of panels per set
- Quantity required for each size
- Heading or hanging method
- Lining requirement
- Side and bottom hem details
- Track or rod information where relevant
For hotel, healthcare or institutional projects, a window schedule or room list helps separate standard sizes from special sizes. Buyers can also provide a technical drawing, measurement sheet or reference sample through our custom curtain design process.
Width, Drop and Fullness Considerations
Finished width should be distinguished from flat fabric width and track coverage. Pleated or gathered curtains require additional fabric to create fullness, while flat PVC or divider curtains follow a different size calculation.
Finished drop may be measured from the top of the heading, the eyelet position, the hook point or another agreed reference. If this point is not defined, the finished curtain may hang higher or lower than expected even when the numerical length is correct.
Pattern repeat, fabric direction, joining seams and lining can also affect cutting plans. Very wide or long curtains may require panel joining or special material preparation. These details are confirmed before sampling rather than adjusted during bulk sewing.
Heading and Construction Dimensions
Eyelets, hooks, rod pockets and pleated headings each require different top construction. Important dimensions can include heading depth, eyelet spacing, hook position, rod-pocket opening and the distance from the suspension point to the finished bottom edge.
Side hems, bottom hems, lining and accessory placement must also be included in the approved construction. Buyers requiring specific hanging hardware can review available options through custom curtain accessories.
We do not apply one standard construction to every curtain category. Hospital curtains, hotel curtains, decorative window curtains and bed curtains are reviewed according to their own installation and use requirements.
Sample Measurement and Pre-Production Approval
A finished sample allows the buyer and production team to verify width, drop, heading construction, hems, lining and hanging appearance before bulk production. Standard samples normally require 3–5 working days, while customized samples usually require 7–15 working days.
Approved dimensions should be recorded in the final specification with the agreed measurement method and acceptable tolerance. The approved sample then becomes the reference for cutting, sewing and finished-product inspection.
Our sample development process is recommended when an order includes multiple dimensions, unusual headings, lining, pattern matching or project-specific installation requirements.
Size Inspection During Bulk Production
Size control begins with the approved cutting specification. Cut panels, heading construction and finished curtains are checked at different production stages to reduce cumulative measurement errors.
Finished inspection can cover:
- Width and drop
- Heading depth and position
- Hem dimensions
- Pair or panel consistency
- Lining alignment
- Size label accuracy
- Quantity by size
- Packing assortment
More details are available on our size measurement inspection page.
MOQ, Lead Time and Size Breakdown
Standard curtain programs usually start from 300–500 pieces per style and color. Customized OEM projects commonly start from 500–1,000 pieces. Orders containing many dimensions in small quantities may require additional cutting, identification and packing work.
Typical bulk production takes 25–35 working days after sample approval and order confirmation. Complex size schedules, special materials or project packaging may require 35–45 working days.
