Pattern and Color Development for Bulk Orders
Printed patterns and custom colors must be clearly approved before curtain bulk production. Differences in artwork scale, color appearance, pattern direction or fabric base can change the final result even when the original design file remains the same.
Drapestra supports pattern and color development for curtain importers, wholesalers, private label brands, hospitality suppliers and project buyers. Available processing depends on the selected fabric, design complexity, quantity and intended application.
Our custom colors and patterns page explains the broader customization options. This page focuses specifically on production confirmation and quality control.
Artwork and Pattern File Review
Before sampling, the buyer’s artwork is checked for dimensions, resolution, color references and repeat requirements. Vector files or high-resolution production artwork are preferred when available.
Important confirmation details include:
- Finished pattern size and repeat dimensions
- Horizontal or vertical design direction
- Position of motifs on the curtain panel
- Color references or approved physical swatches
- Matching requirements for paired panels
- Fabric width and usable printing area
- Whether the design must align at seams or edges
A reference image can explain the intended appearance, but it is not always sufficient for accurate production. A clear artwork file, pattern repeat and color standard help us evaluate feasibility and prepare a representative sample.
Fabric Selection Before Printing
The same pattern can appear different on blackout fabric, sheer fabric, polyester blends, linen-look materials or textured surfaces. Fabric color, weave, absorbency and surface structure influence sharpness, saturation and visual contrast.
For this reason, the base fabric should be approved together with the printed or colored sample. Changing the fabric after color approval may require another sampling round.
Material identity and visible quality are checked through our fabric selection and inspection process before production begins.
Color Sample and Pattern Approval
Colors displayed on a monitor are not treated as the only production reference because screens, file settings and lighting conditions vary. Buyers should provide a Pantone reference, physical color sample or approved fabric swatch where accurate matching is required.
The pre-production sample should confirm:
- Overall color tone and acceptable variation
- Pattern scale and repeat
- Motif position and direction
- Print clarity and edge definition
- Fabric hand feel after processing
- Appearance under agreed viewing conditions
Customized samples typically require more time than standard samples because fabric availability, color matching and printing preparation must be considered. The approval procedure is explained further on our sample development page.
Bulk Production Color Control
Bulk fabric is compared with the approved sample before cutting. Production batches should be identified and managed to reduce visible variation within the same order.
Color can be affected by fabric lots, processing conditions and the base material. Where an order contains paired curtains, panels should be arranged from compatible production material to reduce noticeable differences after hanging.
For printed curtains, production checks also cover repeat dimensions, pattern direction, missing areas, blurred edges, marks and inconsistent saturation. Any agreed tolerance should be confirmed before mass production rather than judged only after completion.
Inspection Before Cutting and Finishing
Printed or colored fabric is checked before cutting because incorrect orientation or shade variation can affect many finished panels. During later production, inspectors continue to review panel matching, visible color consistency and pattern position.
Completed curtains proceed to finished curtain inspection for dimensions, workmanship, appearance and accessory checks before packing.
Information Needed for a Quotation
Please provide the curtain type, base fabric, finished dimensions, artwork file, pattern repeat, color reference, quantity per design and color, panel-pairing requirements, packaging details and destination.
These details help us evaluate printing feasibility, material use, sampling requirements, MOQ and bulk production lead time for your OEM curtain order.
